Jako obcokrajowcy czasami jesteśmy proszeni o wspólne zdjęcie. Przed takim wspólnym zdjęciem pewna dziewczyna pokazała nam fotografię Biblii w swoim telefonie. To chyba oznaczało, że jest chrześcijanką. Podczas tych samych zakupów, kiedy uważnie oglądaliśmy jogurty, żeby wyłowić te najmniej słodkie – ekspedientka zaprowadziła nas do produktów z certyfikatem „qingzhen”. Dziękujemy www.memrise.com za uparte powtarzanie w kursie chińskiego: „qingzhen canting”, „qingzhen shipin”, wiedzieliśmy, że się przyda (restauracja i kuchnia halal). Innym razem dziewczyna w kolejce w banku zapytała, czy jesteśmy Żydami („Masz ładny profil i duży nos”).

Na zdjęciach cerkiew św. Sofii, odremontowana i otwarta jako muzeum kilka lat temu. Wewnątrz cerkwi można obejrzeć zdjęcia z czasów, kiedy Rosjanie, Chińczycy i Polacy budowali tu kolej i infrastrukturę.

Religion – the subject for Sunday

As foreigners we are sometimes asked for a group photo. Before one of such photographs, one girl showed us a picture of Bible in her phone. It probably meant she is a Christian. During the same shopping, while we were carefully searching for the least sweet yoghurts – the shop assistant led us to the products with a “qingzhen” certification label. Thanks to www.memrise.com, which constantly asked us to repeat phrases: „qingzhen canting”, „qingzhen shipin” during Chinese language course, we knew that one day we will make use of it (halal restaurant and cuisine). Another time one lady in a bank asked us, if we were Jews (“You have nice facial profile and a big nose”).

On the photographs: St. Sophia Cathedral restored and opened several years ago as a museum with the pictures of the times when Russians, Chinese and Poles were building a railway and infrastructure in Harbin.
